Trailing in the dust of yet another fandom -

I'm 8 episodes into the first season of Angel. (Taking a BtVS hiatus on Swatkat's recommendation....).

I still love Cordelia, Angel cracks me up, and I'm quite intrigued by the whole Wolfram and Hart thing they're slowly setting up.

So - yeah. Me and netflix - still the only way I get any TeeVee. ;-)

Now, see, BSG with Laura Roslin? Totally get that. Alias, with all the mature women? totally get that -

But Angel? Is there a Madeline-type of character who just hasn't been introduced yet? or is it something else about the show that appeals to you?

Cause (even though I already knew this, obviously!) I would never peg you for liking a show like Angel....

One man's quest for redemption, I know is a theme you enjoy, but I would have thought Angel's morose masculinity would make you impatient - even though they are pretty self-aware with that issue....

swatkat24 pimped me to Angel because she thought I would love Lilah and the whole Wolfram & Hart scenario, as well as, hmmm, you're still on the first season so I won't spoil you, but her character arc has some classic things that appeal to me even if she is slightly younger than my usual OTC. And swatkat24 was right! But I also wound up liking Cordelia a great deal -- she's too funny not to like.

I mostly just ignore Angel. He doesn't bore me quite as much as Michael in that at least he gets exasperated with people and grumpy every so often, but he's still a very similar type. But I'm perfectly used to treating the main characters of TV shows as more or less background furniture or McGuffins to move the plot along, while I pay all my viewing attention to supporting characters' stories.

Yeah - Michael's preternatural unflappability is definitely one of those love it or hate it things.... *g*

So - anyway - Lilah. Well I will wait her arrival with interest and anticipation!

Oh! You haven't "met" Lilah yet! I forgot that she doesn't turn up until later in the first season.

She's very much my type of character, but I suspect she won't interest you much one way or the other. We'll see!

I just can't start another fandom -- I'm already overextended. You'll have to bring back some more letters from the front for the rest of us.

Iz has been enjoying his Netflix account, but summer vacation is coming to an end, and marathon movie watching is going to have to be curtailed. I anticipate much complaining.

Angel ... oh *yeah* ... always liked the Morality with a capital M and its attendant murkiness ... but I'm much more into Buffy. I like the wacked out humor more - plus - the abundance of strong women characters.

I switched up to Angel because Swati insisted that I would enjoy S7 of Buffy more if I got all the story development from Angel too.... but I haven't given over my Buffy love. *g*
