I see this happen a lot and it often confuzzles me. It's hard (for me) to understand why one would want to take an interesting, complicated, unique pairing (qualities that are ostensibly why it attracts in the first place) and try and squish it into a formulaic, traditional pattern. But I guess that the impulse or tendency is understandable in that it's what we're told over and over again through so many different outlets is the *the* right way for men and women to relate to one another sexually and romantically. In other words, it's hard to escape the familiar.
