So, I'm back from my sister's wedding and a busy holiday (at last!) and our hiatus is over!

This week I want to point you to two new essays from metafandom:

On Adultery

On Redemption

I thought both of these were very interesting when read again LFN canon. Afterall, our main four LFN protagonists - Operations, Madeline, Michael and Nikita each commit adultery - and the first three could easily be described as "serial adulterers."

Any yet, we rarely use this as a reason to be unhappy with them - or when it does come up, it tends to get excused or explained. Not that it can't be, of course.... is a section-mandated marriage a 'real' marriage, to the section operative? One in which it is even possible for the section operative to committ adultery? This is a tough question to answer - because undoubtedly Elena, for example, considered her marriage to be real. But was adultery the greatest of Michael's crimes against her, or the least?

As for the second essay - redemption or the possiblity of redemption is an ongoing theme in LFN canon. What do you think of this essay's treatement of it?
